North Shore Firearms Trap Shoot at Ipswich Fish & Game Club 7/13/08
News letter from Ipswich Fish & Game:

This past Sunday, the 13th, Northshore Firearms sponsored a shoot at the Ipswich Fish and Game Association and was kind enough to donate a Browning BPS trap gun to be raffled off to club members and store gift certificates for first, second and third place totaling $300.

The morning started with Mike and Mike from Northshore Firearms bringing in a few high end Caesar Guerini and Browning shotguns for people to take for a ride on the trap field. I think the overall popular model was the Caesar Guerini Summit Model which was a bottom barrel trap gun with the high rib. Many shooters were seen crushing birds at 27 yards with this gun. The gun was such a hit one shooter decided to compete with the Summit instead of his regular competition gun.

Jim Wallace of GOAL and his wife stopped by to promote GOAL and chat with our members and even got out there and smacked some clays with the guns from Northshore Firearms.

Promptly at 11 am the shoot began with all 23 shooters taking to the 16 yard line for the first 25 birds. Four shooters ran the first 25 birds landing them at the 25 yard line for the next 25. After the handicap singles a handful of shooters hovered around the 54-57 score range with doubles deciding who would win the competition. Once the ten bird doubles step back event was complete is was clear Eric G won the overall event scoring a $150 dollar gift card to Northshore Firearms. Second, third and fourth was decided by a tense shootout between Pick, Mark M and Jerry S with Mark getting fourth and walking away with $40 cash which was the start of the Lewis. Jerry and Pick continued to shoot it out with Jerry dropping a bird and winning himself a $50 gift card to Northshore Firearms. Pick picked up second place and a $100 gift card to Northshore Firearms.

Once the scores were tallied the Lewis paid out $40 to six positions with one position split between two shooters and another split between four. The final score card is posted on the wall in the club house if you would like to see how everyone shot.

When time came to draw the lucky number for the shotgun everyone gathered around and Teddy G's son drew the winning ticket which belonged to a new member and first time trap shooter! Our lucky winner had never shot trap before and with a little instruction from club members did pretty well in the competition for a first time shooter and walked away with a great gun to start shooting trap with.

The club as a whole owes a great deal of gratitude to Mike and Mike from Northshore Firearms. There generous donation of the trap gun pulled everyone in to shoot and there over the top donation of first, second and third place prizes allowed the club to keep the money we would have paid out in prizes resulting in an increase of profits for the club. The least we can do as club members is take a trip to check the store out, I know something will catch your eye or you will at least have a good time chatting it up with Mike and Mike and please thank them for their time and donations.

Regards,

Matt A
